Camera Movement and the Long Take

Long Take

Not to be confused with long shots.  Long take is duration of take (longer than standard traditional studio shot), whereas long shot is descriptive of the framing of a shot with distance between figure and camera.

This is a really useful handout that Martine gave us in Experimental Film regarding camera movement and the long take which summarises how and why, and where, the long take is used in film:
